Earn $12 to $15 an hourHandyWorks seeks workers to become independent contractors and provide chore services to low-income seniors and the permanently physically disabled in south, southeast, and northeast Minneapolis. Workers complete such chores as snow removal, lawn mowing, housekeeping, and minor home repairs. The cost of services is between $12 to $15 dollars an hour. Independent contractors interested in snow removal and lawn mowing must provide their own equipment, transport it from home to home, and commit to a full season. Description of ServicesHandyWorks provides assistance to persons 60+ years of age and permanently physically disabled adults. This assistance is with household chores and minor home repairs so they may continue to live independently in their own homes. The types of service provided fall into five categories:
NO FOOD PREPARATION, PERSONAL CARE, OR MOBILITY ASSISTANCE. Funding for the HandyWorks program is provided by an Older American’s Grant through the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging and the Minnesota Board on Aging; Hennepin County; and the United Way of Greater Minneapolis. The Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches (GMCC) provides coordination assistance.
